Bamboo Facts
Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth, with reported growth rates of 100 mm in 24 hours. Some of the largest timber bamboo can grow over 30m tall, and be as large as 15-20cm in diameter.
Bamboo is a type of grass, which explains the speed of growth. This means that there's lots of it,
and when it's harvested, it grows itself back again quickly enough not to leave a dent in the eco-system.

Bamboo is a critical element in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
Bamboo produces 30% more oxygen than trees. Bamboo does not need to be replanted, is self
-generating and can be harvested every three to five years.

Bamboo grows best in tropical zones whichhappen to be many developing countries around the world. Bamboo crops provides jobs that support people's livelihood.  As popularity of bamboo grows, these countries are enjoying access to a wider market. The continued use of bamboo helps developing economies.
